.@SenSchumer, @SpeakerPelosi’s “For The People Act” was a far-reaching effort to federalize elections. The SAVE Act is about a fundamental question: should non-citizens be voting in American elections? The answer is absolutely not. The For The People Act wiped out states Voter ID laws, gave 16-year-olds and felons the vote (contradicting the 14th Amendment), created a six-to-one taxpayer matching for individual campaign contributions, and allowed politicians to take a salary from their campaign donations. You can’t accurately characterize what Schumer and Pelosi tried to do with what Republicans are doing — prove you are a U.S. citizen before voting in U.S. elections. More than 70% of Democrats support Voter ID. It’s a no-brainer. The SAVE Act does not take away from a states’ right to set the time, place, and manner of elections. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
